Harry “Bud” Conway, Age 90 of Manistee died Friday, May 18, 2018 at the Manistee County Medical Care Facility.
He was born on April 19, 1928 in Manistee, MI the son of the late Harry & Elsie (Wissner) Conway. He was a graduate of Manistee High School Class of 1946. He was a Veteran of the United States Army, serving during World War II and Korea. He was recipient of the Purple Heart & Silver Star. He married Carol (Wisneski) Jankowiak on August 28, 1983.
Harry was a maintenance foreman at PCA, having been employed there 32 ½ years. He was a member of Divine Mercy Parish (St. Joseph Church) and a Life Member of VFW Walsh Post #4499.
A “Jack of All Trades”, he enjoyed perch fishing with his late friend Ralph Schubert. He especially loved his step grand and great grandchildren. They always put a smile on his face and he was proud of their accomplishments.
Survivors include his wife; Carol Conway, his daughter Diane (Todd) Van Aiken of Eaton Rapids, his son Joseph Conway of Jenison (Debby Pranger of Florida), step-children; Cindy (Glen) Steinberg of Manistee & Cheryl Besemer (Brett Dushane) of Muskegon, step-grandchildren; Luke (Jessica) Steinberg of San Diego, CA , and Katie Steinberg & Zack Steinberg both of Manistee, & Shannon & family of Florida, great grandchildren; Ben, Sophia, Emma, Vera, Alex, Elsa, Nora, plus one in September. Other survivors are his sister; Marilyn (Jim) Leet of Grand Haven, sister-in-law; Sue Wisneski of Manistee, special niece’ Mary Lynn Burchard (Mike), and nephews and nieces, Jerry (Bonnie) Brown, Cindy (Steve) Pons, Pam (Phil) Jacobs, Merrlene & DJ, as well as numerous cousins.
In addition to his parents Harry was also preceded in death by his brother; Ken, brothers-in-law; Darrell Wisneski and Harold Anderson, and step son-in-law; Ray Besemer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, May 26, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Manistee with Father Pablo Martinez celebrant. Military Honors by the Manistee United Veterans Council Honor Guard will follow. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 AM until time of Mass.
