Joyce Lorraine Johnson, Age 86 of Bear Lake died Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at Munson Healthcare-Manistee Hospital surrounded by her family.
She was born on October 25, 1930 in Harrietta, MI the daughter of the late Alfred & Bertha (Hinton) Allen. She was a graduate of Mesick High School. On September 17, 1949 she married the love of her life and forever dance partner Harold L. Johnson at the Norwalk Lutheran Church. Together they loved dancing, camping, playing cards, and spending winters in Florida. He preceded her in death on June 14, 2014.
In her earlier years Joyce was employed with Smeltzer Fruit Packing as well as a caregiver for young children, however her greatest joy was her family and having all her kids together “at the farm”. Grandma’s candy dish was always full. She was an active member of the Norwalk Lutheran Church serving as a Sunday School teacher and as a member of the Ladies Aid. She loved vegetable gardening – canning everything, and yard sales – displaying every treasure she purchased.
Survivors include her children; Dennis (Norma) Johnson of Harrietta, Randy (Dawn) Johnson of Onekama, Les (Karen) Johnson of Bear Lake, Marty (Shelley) Johnson of Manistee, Linda (Mike) Jeruzal of Ludington, and LuAnn (Rick) Tomaszewski of Copemish, by her grandchildren; Jennifer Stephenson, Jonathon (Melinda) Johnson, Christopher (Carrie) Jeruzal, Daren Jeruzal, Michael (Sara) Jeruzal, Elizabeth Johnson, Chance Johnson, Nicole (Brandon) Warlin, Rachelle (Lawrence) Hrachovina, Matthew (Kasandra) Johnson, Travis (Sami) Johnson, Dan McElreath, and Theresa & Jason Tomaszewski, 17 great grandchildren including Baby Johnson due in May, her sister; Alice Hamilton of Mesick, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by a brother; Jim Allen and a sister; Clara Hacker.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, April 13, 2017 at 2:00 PM at the Norwalk Lutheran Church with Reverend Michael Belinsky, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Norwalk Lutheran Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 PM until time of service.
