Obituary for Cloyd Raymond Johnson

Cloyd Raymond Johnson, age 85, of Kaleva, passed away December 2, 2016 at Paul Oliver Memorial Hospital LTC in Frankfort. He was born May 7, 1931 in Brethren, MI to late Fred Arthur Johnson and Marjorie Marie (Monk) Johnson. He was a 1950 graduate of Dickson High School in Brethren. Cloyd then attended several tech schools specializing in computer repair. He served in the US Air Force from 1951 – 1954 in Mississippi and Georgia where he repaired radar, auto pilot, and navigation equipment. On March 23, 1951 Cloyd married Eleanor Lenz in Kaleva, MI. She preceded him in death on January 16, 2008. He worked as a Computer Field Engineer for Sperry Corp. for 26 years, retiring Dec. 1, 1986. He also worked part-time for the Manistee County Conservation Department. where he had volunteered. He was a member of the Kaleva Lions Club, Kaleva Retirees and the Manistee Conservation Department. Cloyd enjoyed deer hunting, trout fishing and playing cards twice a week at the Lions Club in Kaleva.
Cloyd was also preceded in death by his step-dad Alex Tiusku, son Rex Johnson in 1980, brother Robert Johnson and sister Frances Scodallero.
Survivors include his two sons, Alan Johnson of Kaleva and Jon (Janet) Johnson of North Attleboro, MA; three granddaughters, Laurel (Matt) Afonso, Kristen Johnson and Crystal Johnson; two great-granddaughters, Kayliegh and Leah Afonso; brother Gene (Dalene) Johnson of Chief Lake and five sisters, Mary Lenz of Kaleva, Norma (Gerald) Merrill of Phoenix, AZ, Bonnie (Dave) Mathews of Oregon, Linda (Sidney) Fraley of Manistee and Lucille Howes of Marilla.
