Dennis Jankwietz, Age 74 of East Lake died Wednesday evening November 9, 2016 at West Shore Medical Center.
He was born on May 23, 1942 in Manistee the son of the late Adam A. & Constance B. (Adolphson) Jankwietz. He was a graduate of Manistee High School Class of 1960. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving from August of 1960 to April of 1965. On August 14, 1965 he married Maureen Lynne O’Brien at Saint Mary’s of Mount Carmel Shrine.
He was employed as a pipefitter at Morton Salt Company retiring in 2003.
Dennis enjoyed life. He hunted, fished, and played golf.
Survivors include his wife; Maureen L. Jankwietz of East Lake, three children; Brenda (Thor) Fowler of East Lake, Ronda (Richard) Koon and Jesse Jankwietz both of Manistee, six grandchildren; Casey & Andrew, Dakota, & Gracie, Anna, & Brooke, 4 great grandchildren; Lillian, Colt, Caidence and Camden, one brother; Donald Jankwietz of Manistee, his mother-in-law; Elnora Kerin of Manistee, in-laws; Donna Jankwietz, Murray O’Brien, Margaret (Candelario) Sanchez, & Molly O’Brien, all of Manistee and Marjie O’Brien of Traverse City, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was a also preceded in death by a brother; Roger “Pete” Jankwietz, and in-laws; Jean Jankwietz and Edward “Mike” O’Brien.
Memorial Services for Dennis Jankwietz will be held Friday, November 18, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the Oak Grove Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Manistee with Ann Ziehm officiating. Military Honors will follow by the Manistee United Veteran Council. Interment will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday morning from 10:00 AM until time of service.
