Obituary for Frances Maxine LaMont (Rogers)

Frances Maxine LaMont
On October 15, 2016 we lost a very special, sweet Christian woman, Frances Maxine LaMont, 94 of Bear Lake, MI. Frances passed away at Manistee County Medical Care facility while under care of Hospice.
Frances was born Sept. 10, 1922, third daughter to parents Winfield and Eleanor (Hilliard) Rogers.
Frances attended Big Four School, Bear Lake High School and L.P.N. school at Mercy Hospital, Manistee.
Frances married John Roscoe LaMont (Ike) on November 18, 1943. Frances worked as an L.P.N. at Mercy Hospital in Manistee, the old County farm, and at present time, the Manistee County Medical Care Facility. She retired in 1969. Frances and her husband, Roscoe were very active in the Pleasanton Methodist church and now at present time the Bear Lake Methodist Church. Frances was a true Christian in all aspects of her life. Even though Frances was not able to attend church every Sunday she would send birthday cards, thank you notes to church members and Christmas cards to prisoners here in Manistee County.
Frances loved farm life. She always had a large vegetable garden and especially her flower beds. Frances had a special place in her heart for her cats.
Frances was the oldest living member of the LaMont and Rogers family. She is survived by three daughters; Linda Holm of DeWitt, MI, Joanne Crawford of California, Elaine Howes and Harvey LaMont both of Pleasanton. Frances was blessed with 9 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Roscoe and grandson Michael John Howes.
Viewing will be at Oak grove Funeral Home in Bear Lake on Tuesday evening 5-8PM. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00AM at Bear Lake united Methodist Church with viewing 1 hour prior to funeral. Rev. Jane Logston officiating. Luncheon following service. Graveside service following luncheon at Pleasanton Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Bear Lake United Methodist Church or Hospice of Michigan.
