Virginia Lee Saya
Virginia Lee Saya, age 77 of Scottville passed away unexpectedly on Monday September 26, 2016 at home.
She was born on June 2, 1939 in Ludington, daughter of the late Glen and Mary (Brennen) Griffis. Virginia attended Mason County Central High School, and graduated with the class of 1957. Virginia married Stanley Saya on November 26, 1960 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Custer.
Virginia loved playing bingo and also liked to go check out all the various yard sales around the area. She was also a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Custer.
Virginia is survived by her husband, Stanley Saya of Scottville; daughter, Sally (Bob) Thompson of Fountain; 3 sons, Stephen (Teresa) Saya of Scottville, Matthew (Jillyne) Saya of Walhalla and Paul (Renee Zimmer) Saya of Scottville; 3 sisters, Jean Terryn of Ludington, Marilyn Bedker of Scottville and Sharon (Ted) Keefer of Scottville; 2 brothers, Henry (Rose) Griffis and Carl (Theresa) Griffis; daughter-in-law, Deb Saya; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She is preceded in death by parents; son, Mark Saya; 3 brothers, Bobby Griffis, Glen Griffis, Jr. and Marion “Bud” Griffis.
Cremation has taken place and the funeral mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00AM on Saturday October 1, 2016 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Custer with Father Dan Depew celebrant. The family will receive friends for visitation from 4:00PM till 7:00PM on Friday September 30, 2016 at Oak Grove Funeral Home in Ludington with the rosary being prayed at 6:30PM. Final interment will take place at a later date at St. Mary’s Riverside Cemetery in Custer.
