Johnny's was part of my youth. I had my first dance and my first real kiss there. It was a great place to go to be with friends and have fun with skating, dancing and great music. When I moved away I still came to visit with my own kids when I was in town. Johnny was generous and took time to know all the regulars. Thanks for all the memories...

I will always be greatfull to Johnny for giving me a chance. When I moved back from California and needed a job he gave me one. We were just like family there and everyone that worked there knew it. Thanks always Johnny my love always Cheryl

Our condolences to Jimmy and the family. Memories of the late 50's and 60's will always be with us. Jimmy you had two wonderful parents that meant so much to so many. They will be missed by not only the local community but also by the many lives they touched.

We will never forget the many dances,and dinners we had at Johnny's. We even saw many country and western stars over the years. It was the place to go for many years and will always be remembered.

My uncle Johnny (he would jokingly ask me NOT to call him "uncle" when other people were around because it made him feel old) was truly one of a kind. I started going to his dances as a young teenager, then all the way through high school. What fun they were! I remember being in the "Spotlight Dance" with my GIRLFRIEND when I was in junior high school! Oh my...... I remember dancing to Jerry Lee Lewis in person and listing to Conway Twitty in the Big Room.....I remember going back for reunion dances as an adult. Sweet memories. Not many people know this, but he was a man WAY ahead of his time. He put a drive through window on the Snack Bar way before McDonald's existed. Granted, it was not a success. After all, who could IMAGINE getting food in a drive through? Finally, one of my favorite memories was seeing he and my Aunt Maisie skating at their anniversary party in the darkened rink, the spotlight on them, looking into each other's eyes. Beautiful, graceful,lump in the throat time.... I do not, and will not, ever hear Moonlight Seranade without thinking of them both.

I worked for Johnny entertainer in a few bands. He was always first class guy. He treated all of us with respect, something many club owners have forgotten. I have alot of respect for Johnny. R.I.P.

There was nothing like skipping out on hot lunch to go here for french fries and a coke! You always saw Maisie and Johnny too! Such great times. At Friday night roller skating, what a treat to be chosen by Johnny to roller skate you in a circle, he roller skated while swinging you in a circle by holding onto your ankles! Great times growing up with the Urban family. Jim was the ultimate skater, I must have been about in 7th grade the last time I skated with Jim. Johnny and Maisie what a great couple, sadly missed by many.

This sure is the end of an era. I breaks my heart to think they are gone. We all spent alot of our life at Johnny's. My brother Lester worked for Johnny from the time he was 16 until he died in 1999 at the age of 53. Johnny loved him and he loved Johnny. The love he gave to Lester's children after his passing was unbelievable. A wonderful man who loved and knew all of us, and called us my name everytime he saw us. He his loved beyond measure by everyone, and well be so missed.

All the great memories of Johnny and Mazie at the bandstand. He was a great man with so many dreams that came true. Like someone else said he was the Dick Clark of Mason Co. he always new who you were and who your parents were also. He would call you by name if you were in trouble at the bandstand. He will be missed in the area and also his wife of many years. RIP Johnny and Mazie let God take over your life in the heavens and also that you start the bandstand up ther.

Prayers to the family of Johnny. He was a wonderful man. I will never forget the great times my friends and i had on Friday and Saturday nites and also on Sunday afternoons. It was a good place for teens and we loved to go dance when we were older too. God Bless you and R.I.P Johnny!!!

Johnny will be greatly missed.... spending my time at johnnys every friday sat night were the best days of my teen yrs being able to have a place to go for teens to have a wonderful time... he always made you feel welcome and all the live bands that he had were awesome.. they were the best yrs of my life... we always loved to hear him broadcast Johnnys bandstand with his airplane .. i think that is what made it so great everyone could find about the skate and dance center... thanks Johnny!!!!!!

I was learning to roller skate with the metal clamp on skates over bumpy sidewalks. The first time my Mom & Dad took me to "Johnny's I was scared. As I got use to the skates with shoes attached I wasn't scared anymore. Mom & Dad bought my first pair of skates and case from Johnny. Johnny and Maisie took me under their wing(as they did all of us kids) and taught me how to two step alone and with a partner. They also taught me how to couple's waltz and skate backward. Both Johnny & Maisie were there for you if had a problem with anything to do with skating or a personal problem. From skating it was on to the "Big Room". Oh what great memories I have of going to "Johnny's". If I remember right the Class of 59 held two of our reunion's there. At the last one we held there Johnny invited us into the "Big Room" to do some dancing. He announced our class and played some of the tunes from the 50's. I will never forget my times at "Johnny's.

When I was just a Boy in the late 50’s early 60's Johnny would take his VW Bus (not sure of the make but that type of bus” and make the rounds to Fountain, Tallman, Walhalla picking up us kids. He would take us to the Rink then take us back to where we were picked up after closing. I worked for Johnny during High School as many others did. In those days Big Jim “Jimbo” Thompson would spin records till Johnny came on. Jim would play At the Hop and use Ed McMann’s “Here’s Johnny “line to start Johnny’s segment. Johnny closed with Dreaming the Blues and would tell All “Be good and if you can’t be good, have fun”. Those were the days my friends. Bob Wilson, Fountain

Johnny was my first boss, my friend and my mentor. I am so glad I got to see and talk to him when I was in Michigan a couple of years ago. I think of him often and tell stories about how I learned my work ethic from working for him. I will miss him. Love ya Johnny.

To the Urban family, I have such wonderful memories of Johnny. Seems like he took me and my brothers Roy and Bob right under his wings when we were teenagers. He made us all feel special to him. we all loved him growing up. I made lots of friends while skating or dancing on Saturday nights. This is where I met my husband. We have been married for 39 years now. May he rest in peace at the feet of our Lord. He suffers no more. Prayers for all the family left behind, for they are the ones who are mourning his loss now.
